BE Excellent ~ Shine!
"In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." John 1:4-5 Jesus is a reflection of light: eminent, conspicuous, and distinguished. To be conspicuously evident or clear that Jesus is alive in and with you, SHINE like Jesus! In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. Who is “Him” in this verse? (the Word) What was in Him? (the life) What does John say was the “light of men?” (the life) Do you remember when God said, ‘Let there be Light’? (in the beginning, at creation) Do you think this is the light He was talking about? Consider the light IN the world and the light OF the world. Consider if Jesus is IN us, then we are HIS living light...the light of the Son of man. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. When is it dark outside? (at night) But are there any things that light up the night sky? (the moon and stars) But “in the beginning” God’s world was completely dark. There was no sun, no moon, no stars. What does this verse tell us shined in the darkness? (the light) What was this light? (the Word) Who is the Word? (Jesus! Jesus lit up the darkness!) We reflect Jesus' light by Shining! I encourage you when learning about a concept or idea to also jot down the opposite. By doing so, you will gain even more insight of the value of the attribute. This will help you to BE Excellent. What is the opposite of excellent? (Look it up) To BE Excellent = Light = SHINE! Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, my days are full. On the days I start with you, my days are centered in your excellence. As I reflect on your excellence and blessing and creation, make me more like you. I am your reflection to the world. Let me shine! Help me shine and help others out of the darkness. I don't want to be dim or lack value. Fill me with your Glory and Shinyness. Part 2 John 4:16-26 Jesus said to the woman, “Go, call your husband and come back.” She replied, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.” “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.” Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” Then Jesus declared, “I who speak to you am he.” Notes John 4:15 The woman did not immediately understand what Jesus was talking about. It takes time to accept something that changes the very foundations of your life. Jesus allowed the woman time to ask questions and put pieces together for herself. Sharing the gospel will not always have immediate results. When you ask people to let Jesus change their lives, give them time to weigh the matter. Notes John 4:16-20 When this woman discovered that Jesus knew all about her private life, she quickly changed the subject. Often people become uncomfortable when the conversation is too close to home, and they try to talk about something else. As we witness, we should gently guide the conversation back to Christ. His presence exposes sin and makes people squirm, but only Christ can forgive sins and give new life. Stay tuned, as well discover more about all this over the next few weeks. Important to Reiterate -- Notes John 4:22 When Jesus said, “salvation is from the Jews,” he meant that only through the Jewish Messiah would the whole world find salvation. God had promised that through the Jewish race the whole earth would be blessed (Genesis 12:3). The Old Testament prophets had called the Jews to be a light to the other nations of the world, binging them to a knowledge of God; and they had predicted the Messiah’s coming. The woman at the well may have known of these passages and was expecting the Messiah, but she didn’t realize that she was talking to him! --------------------------------- Journal "40 Days of Excellence" CHALLENGE Journal Prompts Q: How do you think you'd think and feel if you met someone like Jesus today at the local coffee shop? "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:1 The Word is the Bible. The Word = Jesus = the Living Word. The beginning is difficult to wrap your head around. Then, John explains that the Good News of the Gospel is that Jesus was divine and existed before the creation of the world. BEFORE our beginning. John, one of first three disciples of Jesus had a unique relationship with Jesus and he gives us a close glimpse into the life of Jesus. He was in his inner circle. John's intent during the early days of the church were to help understand who Jesus was, and IS, and that we need His salvation to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Part 1 Let's first understand the historical context with this cultural encounter between the Samaritan woman and Jesus (a Jew): Notes: John 4:1-3 Already opposition was rising against Jesus, especially from the Pharisees. They resented Jesus’ popularity as well as his message, which challenged much of their teachings. Because Jesus was just beginning his ministry, it wasn’t yet time to confront these leaders openly; so he left Jerusalem and traveled north toward Galilee. Notes: John 4:4 After the northern kingdom, with its capital at Samaria, fell to the Assyrians, many Jews were deported to Assyria, and foreigners were brought in to settle the land and help keep the peace (2 Kings 17:24). The intermarriage between those foreigners and the remaining Jews resulted in a mixed race, impure in the opinion of Jews who lived in the southern kingdom. Thus the pure Jews hated this mixed race called Samaritans because they felt that their fellow Jews who had intermarried had betrayed their people and nation. Jesus came to a town in Samaria called Sychar. Tired from his journey, Jesus sat down by a water well. John 4:7-14 A Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her: “Will you give me a drink?” The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For in that day and age, Jews did not associate with Samaritans.) Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?” Jesus answered her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Notes: John 4:7-9 (Jesus Crossed over all Barriers) This woman (1) was a Samaritan, a member of the hated mixed race, (2) was known to be living in sin [which you will learn in tomorrow’s Blog], and (3) was in a public place. No respectable Jewish man would talk to a woman under such circumstances. But Jesus did. The gospel is for every person, no matter what his or her race, social position, or past sins. We must be prepared to share this gospel at any time and in any place. Jesus crossed all barriers to share the gospel, and we who follow him must do no less.” --------------------------------- Journal "40 Days of Excellence" CHALLENGE Notes: John 4:10 What did Jesus mean by “living water?” In the Old Testament, many verses speak of thirsting after God as one thirsts for water (Psalm 42:1); Isaiah 55:1; Jeremiah 2:13; Zechariah 13:1). God is called the fountain of life (Psalm 36:9) and the spring of living water (Jeremiah 17:13). In saying he would bring living water that could forever quench a person’s thirst for God, Jesus was claiming to be the Messiah. Only the Messiah could give this gift that satisfies the soul’s desire. Q: Are there cultural barriers today? Q: How comfortable are you in sharing your faith in Friend Jesus with others? Q: This week do at least 3 random acts of kindness to a stranger and journal your experience. (Maybe it's holding the door open for someone and smiling at them. Maybe it's paying it forward when you get your coffee at your local coffee shop. Maybe it's letting someone cut in front of you on the road instead of you speeding up and cutting them off. Wherever your heart leads you, journal about it. How did it make the stranger feel? How did it make you feel? Q: Have a fresh glass of water. Look at it a little differently - look at it as being the living water and be thankful you are meeting Jesus at the well. New International Version translation "And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him {after death} he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." The Message translation "Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls! Wow. We are constantly aware of what the world thinks. I'm not sure why, but we place so much value in what the world and others think about us. We get our feelings hurt when we are criticized. We even don't know how to respond when we are complimented. Why do we need so much from each other and the world? When we focus our eyes on JESUS, on the favor God has for us, His affirmation and love for us will become the affirmation of our self-esteem. We have value and worth because He made us. He Loves Us. He Died for Us. He Rose again for us. He is preparing a place in Heaven for us. His favor for us is a shield. How do we learn to enjoy God's favor? By fixing our eyes on Jesus L.P.S.S.L.H. 1) Learn to enjoy your everyday blessings (write them down) 2) Praise God for Leading you and give Him thanks (write them down) 3) Seek God in Prayer ~ specifically ask God for His favor! "And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and Man. Luke 2:52 We are so quick to criticize and condemn. We are often so hard on ourselves and others, our society. DIVINE favor means God is smiling down on us in His infinite grace. He is smiling down on you. Do yourself and others a favor and learn what the Bible says about the favor of the Lord. It occurs overs 100 times, most often in the Old Testament, as it is expressing the attitude of God towards His people. Favor comes from the Latin root words "good will, inclination, kindness." So, if we look favorably on a subject, it means we are in agreement. We vote in favor of something. We are a fan of a certain sports team. We have a favorite brand of clothing. A "fan"= The favor of God implies His gracious, loving regard for us. God is OUR "fan" - Jesus roots for us! He is our friend. He is on our side, enthusiastic for our welfare and wellbeing. In the Bible, the word favor is related to the concept of grace ~ 'the unmerited favor of God toward mankind." Do yourself and favor and be like Jesus, by growing in the wisdom and stature of Jesus, BE Excellent, to stay in favor with God and Man. How? 1). Desire the favor of the Lord on your life, asking God daily to refresh you! 2). Desire the favor of the Lord on other's lives. 3). Dig into the Bible to read and reflect on the verses in the Bible about God's favor. Back in 1872, a preacher named James D. Demarest preached a sermon from Psalm 106:4 (look it up!) for which he said: "God never had anting else but favor (for His people); He loved them from everlasting; his heart, his affections were eternally fixed upon them... And when God's favor is revealed, it melts the heart into humility, love and gratitude. He (David) did not merely want a man's favor and man's help and deliverance, but he wanted something connected with God, something that comes immediately from him. HE WANTED GOD'S FAVOR." The favor of God means the companionship of God. Take a moment to consider as you read this....the Lord is beside you, right there, encouraging you with the truth of Scripture, aware of what the next moment holds. Jesus is going before you, coming behind you, hovering around you, even to the end of the world. Faith is BELIEVING! Believe in God's favor and SEEK it now and always. This is such an interesting question Jesus asks Martha. Do YOU believe in the resurrection and the life it provides as a believer? Aren’t you curious of Martha's response? What is your response? Today marks the beginning of Lent - the season leading up to Jesus' death and resurrection. Past Rick Warren writes: The resurrection of Jesus changed everything. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is one of the most well-documented events in history. It would stand up in any court of law. In fact, it has — many, many times throughout the centuries.” “The resurrection proves that Jesus is exactly who he claimed to be. He repeatedly said he was the Son of God who came to die for our sins so that we could have life.” “The resurrection proves that there is life after death. Jesus paid the price we could never pay, so eternity in heaven with God is secure for everyone who believes.” "The resurrection proves that Jesus keeps his promises. Jesus promised to defeat death and he did. Since Jesus kept that promise, you can trust in all of his promises.” “Jesus promises eternal life for everyone who believes in him.” “Where else are you going to get a promise like that? Nowhere! Who else can offer you eternal life? No one! If you don’t get it from Jesus, you won’t have it. That is an amazing benefit, and it’s available to you today.” ————————————-- Q & A with Friend Jesus Take a journey through the latter parts of the book of John. Look up the scripture and journal your thoughts. Write your prayer requests out including deeper understanding of our Friend Jesus. Ask yourself: Q: “Do I believe that Jesus is in God the Father and God the Father is in Jesus?” (John 14:10-11) Q: “Do I believe Jesus performed miracles that no one else could ever do?” (Read the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John for eye witness miracles Jesus performed in the name of God the Father) Q: “Do I believe that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth that can live within us?” (John 14:15-17) Q: “Do I believe Jesus knew he was born to die?” (John 14:19-20) Q: “Do I believe God the Father sent Jesus to earth to be born to die?” (John 14:22-24) Q: “Do I believe in the Trinity - God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit?” (John 14:25-27) Q: “Do I believe in Jesus’ death and power over death - the resurrection?” (John Chapters 20 & 21) Q: “Do you believe that Jesus is a king? Do you believe that his kingdom is not of this world?” (John 18:36) ————————————-- "40-Days of Excellence" Journal CHALLENGE We invite you on a quest to dig deeper and learn about the meaning of the death and resurrection of Friend Jesus. Reminder: we are human beings designed by God. Let’s go back to the beginning of the Bible, in the Old Testament, when people feared God, but didn’t have a relationship with Him (having a relationship was the purpose of Jesus walking this earth, but we'll dive into that during our 40 Day Journal Challenge). God spoke to the Israelites through Moses (as well as other prophets in the Old Testament). Ultimately the Israelite people did heard God's Voice! Let’s go back to the Deuteronomy and hear what God told them: “Moses summoned all Israel and said: “Hear, Israel, the decrees and laws I declare in your hearing today. Learn them and be sure to follow them. The Lord our God made a covenant with us at Horeb. It was not with our ancestors that the Lord spoke to you face to face out of the fire on the mountain. (At the time I stood between the Lord and you to declare to you the word of the Lord, because you were afraid of the fire and did not go up the mountain.) And he said: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments. “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. “Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns, so that your male and female servants may rest, as you do. … “Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you. “You shall not murder. “You shall not commit adultery. “You shall not steal. “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. “You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor’s house or land, his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” “These are the commandments the Lord proclaimed in a loud voice to your whole assembly there on the mountain from out of the fire, the cloud and the deep darkness; and he added nothing more. Then he wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me…” “And you said, “The Lord our God has shown us his glory and his majesty, and we have heard his voice from the fire. Today we have seen that a person can live even if God speaks with them…” “For what mortal has ever heard the voice of the living God speaking out of fire, as we have, and survived? Go near and listen to all that the Lord our God says. Then tell us whatever the Lord our God tells you. We will listen and obey…” “Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever! …” “Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.” [ Deuteronomy 5:1-33 ] Drop the mic. They just heard from the Almighty God! Nothing more needs to be said. You just heard the laying down of the Ten Commandments from God Himself! Absorbs these wise Words. Reflect on His Voice, which, as the historical timeline will show, will ultimately be through the Voice of Jesus (anticipate in a couple weeks the series on the Significance of Jesus - you will hear what He had to say to us as He walked on this earth). ----------------------------------- "40-Days of Excellence" Journal Challenge Over the next 40 days (of the Lenten season before Jesus' death and resurrection), join us in this Journal Challenge. We probably all have our own standards of what it means to be "excellent" and let's be honest. Let’s all start with what the world defines "excellence" as: Definition of EXCELLENT: Internet Definition: "the quality of being outstanding or extremely good." The American Heritage Dictionary: “The state, quality, or condition of excelling; superiority.” Synonyms: excel, surpass, exceed, transcend, outdo, going beyond a limit or standard; superior performance, quality, or degree. This Wednesday launches the beginning of the 40 Days before Easter, or, in the anticipation of the death of Friend Jesus and His miraculous Resurrection. The Catholic church calls it Ash Wednesday -- tradition has shown that they attend church and receive ashes marking their foreheads with a cross, symbolizing Jesus death and resurrection. The Catholic church, as well as others, tend to “give up” tempting items (e.g. a popular example seen in the wonderul movie "Chocolat" is sweets) as a sign of sacrifice, in light of Jesus' ultimate sacrifice of giving His life up for us. Doesn't seem to quite equate, but it's a reminder when we are tempted, to focus on Jesus and everything He stands for. Instead of “giving up” something, we ask you to join us in the Challenge below - on a journey not of what you can't have, but on what you CAN HAVE walking with Friend Jesus. -------------------------------- BIBLICAL VIEW What does it look like to BE an EXCELLENT Christian: My imperfect human nature feels this is an intimidating topic to write on, but in my discovery, at least, I can provide some rich, "excellent" characteristics to strive for directly from the Bible. Excellent Christian character has at least nine values to personally work on (Galatians 5:22-23). Express your love to the Lord your God with all our heart, soul and strength; impress the commandments (Deuteronomy, Chapter 5) on your heart, impress them on your children; talk about them within your home and outside of your home; impress them as symbols upon yourselves (Deuteronomy 6:4-5) and to love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:36-40). Do not boast (Ephesians 2:8) or think of yourself better than another, instead, think of others better than you. BE joyful and wise during temptations (James 1:1-8). BE perserverence under trials (James 1:12). BE accepting of your gifts from your Heavenly Father (James 1:16-18). BE careful in your speech (James 1:19-27; James 5:12). Hold the poor in high regard and BE love to others (James 2:1-3). BE discerning with your tongue (James 3). BE wise (James 3:13-18). BE humble (James 4:1-10). BE Godly, not worldly (James 4:11-12). BE patient in suffering (James 4:7-11). BE prayerful in your faith (James 5:13-20). BE a giver (Acts 20:35). Spiritual maturity is a quest for character for which there will be little progress without the pursuit of excellence. As Paul tells the Corinthians: “Just as you excel in everything, in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us - see that you also excel in this grace of giving.” [ 2 Corinthians 8:7 ] Without pursuing excellence, life will remain bland, very vanilla, lukewarm at best (see Rev 3:15-17). Don’t settle for following God halfway. Let the journey to follow Christ fire up your faith and get you into the action of BEcoming EXCELLENT in your FAITH and to BE like Christ. -------------------------------- 40-Day Journal Challenge These next 40 days, instead of “giving something up” and focusing on what you can’t have, we ask you to join us on a journey to learn what you CAN HAVE walking with Jesus through the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. 1) Start by scheduling quiet time into your schedule everyday. 2) Get a Journal and entitle it: "40 Days to Excellence". 3) Get your Bible out (or use the YouVersion Bible app) and write out the scripture mentioned above -- there is a lot, do what you can ;). 4) Around Day 30, journal what the characteristics of BEcoming an EXCELLENT Christian can look like in your life. There will be other blog posts this month with more to journal on Excellence. Don't expect to do this in one day - it will be an amazing journaling experience. Take your time with it, absorb what you're learning and jot down your thoughts and prayer requests. It's not about quantity, it's about quality of your meditation on the Scriptures and what they are telling you and where you feel you can learn and grow. God is excited to hear from you! I promise you, it will be one of the most enriching studies you can do. Please read slowly and in entirety. You are in God's Family. You are Love in action. BE Love of the Father vs. love of the world. YOU are the Love in the World. God Is Love 1 John 4:7-19 (the Message)7-10 My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can’t know him if you don’t love. This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God. 11-12 My dear, dear friends, if God loved us like this, we certainly ought to love each other. No one has seen God, ever. But if we love one another, God dwells deeply within us, and his love becomes complete in us—perfect love! 13-16 This is how we know we’re living steadily and deeply in him, and he in us: He’s given us life from his life, from his very own Spirit. Also, we’ve seen for ourselves and continue to state openly that the Father sent his Son as Savior of the world. Everyone who confesses that Jesus is God’s Son participates continuously in an intimate relationship with God. We know it so well, we’ve embraced it heart and soul, this love that comes from God. To Love, to Be Loved17-19 God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment-- is one not yet fully formed in love. We, though, are going to love—love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first. Challenge #1: Read the message again; underline important words for you. Challenge #2: . Be in AWE and Love and accept that you ARE loved by God. (it's TRUE!) Challenge #3: Love and be Loved. Write a letter from Jesus to you telling you how much he loves you. Prayer. Dear God, In this world I am like Jesus. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and know that I am so honored to be in your family of LOVE and light in the world. Give me courage to love others as you have loved me, in prayer and actions. In your powerful son's name, Amen. Be Designed to Be Love (just do it!), Sandi Reference: The Bible Author: Sandi Hanscom BE Love ~ Faith is Love in Action
"...The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." Galatians 5:6 Have you ever wondered what faith and love have to do with one another? How are they connected? Galatians 5:6 says, " ...the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." Faith works by love. It is energized by love. Faith is put into motion by love. Why is that? The purpose of faith is to lead us to know the heart of God and then trust His ways to guide us. Christian faith is the belief, trust, and loyalty to God as revealed in Jesus Christ, ...and we say "amen" to that unique relationship to God in the Holy Spirit through love and obedience as expressed in lives of discipleship and service. Paul’s teaching on love in 1st Corinthians 13 wants us to focus on the faith-love connection. Love—the Greatest of All 1st Corinthians 13:1-8: I may be able to speak the languages of men and even of angels, but if I do not have love, it will sound like noisy brass. If I have the gift of speaking God’s Word and if I understand all secrets, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I know all things and if I have the gift of faith so I can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give everything I have to feed poor people and if I give my body to be burned, but do not have love, it will not help me. Love does not give up. Love is kind. Love is not jealous. Love does not put itself up as being important. Love has no pride. Love does not do the wrong thing. Love never thinks of itself. Love does not get angry. Love does not remember the suffering that comes from being hurt by someone. Love is not happy with sin. Love is happy with the truth. Love takes everything that comes without giving up. Love believes all things. Love hopes for all things. Love keeps on in all things. Love never comes to an end. Today, if you think about it, you and I only have one “do not”--Do not get out of love! That’s our one commandment. We are to walk in love, which covers a lot of ground. In fact, we see in this passage that our love walk is connected to everything we do in life as believers, including our faith. God wants us to walk in love because love never fails. He wants the best for us, and since the best is found in love, you and I must walk in love in order to receive God’s best. This includes honoring Him, forgiving and walking in the fruit of the Spirit. The purpose of love is twofold: First, it is revelation of identity. It tells us who God is and who we are in God. Second, it is the very power that allows us to do the work of Jesus and even greater works as Jesus described. Love has the power to help us believe again and restore hope in others. It is the engine that drives our spiritual lives. Faith and love are intricately connected. Don’t think that you can walk in true, God-designed love without walking in faith, neither can you walk in faith without walking in love. Begin studying God’s Word for yourself to find out about this connection and how to live it. When you bring love and faith together, your entire outlook will begin to shift, and you’ll begin to view the world through God’s eyes! Challenge 1: What Faith is to you? Challenge 2: What Love is and is not. Challenge 3: How do you express your faith through love? Put your love into action and BE love. Prayer and Meditation. Dear Heavenly Father, I know I’m designed to Be Love, not just be loved. Jesus is Love. Youre Love. Therefore, I am LOVE in ACTION. Help me walk in love and remember all that Love Is...and isn’t. Thank you for loving me unconditionally and providing me strength and courage to BE LOVE. To be loved is to love. You loved me first. Plan BE | I am designed by you to be LOVE. Amen.
